"The City of Swan has run a number of activities with Karen from Life in the Bush to engage residents to learn more about local reserves, bushland maintenance and biodiversity. This includes workshops in bush reserves and in library venues such as Tree Discovery Dawdles, Seasonal bushland appreciation walks and Intro to local plant ID sessions, the latter of which, Karen actually developed especially for us as we wanted to increase the plant identification skills of our Friends Group volunteers and the general community in a fun and engaging way (during a bush walk). Karen has been willing to tailor her workshop offerings to suit our needs and venues, and is very responsive which makes it a pleasure to organise events and get all the information needed for promotional materials. Karen's workshops are engaging and informative, and she is able to adapt the session to suit the knowledge and interests of the group. The workshops are typically well registered and attended and we receive positive feedback from attendees after the sessions, making the workshops a valuable contribution to our educational workshop series."

Extract from Swan Scoop July 2022:
... Sheila said the Seasonal Bushland Appreciation Walk, in which Karen Maree from Life in the Bush shared her knowledge of native plants on a guided bushwalk, was among her favourites (City of Swan Thinking Green activities). "I enjoyed it so much I went twice," she said. "My two daughters live in Melbourne, and surprised me with a visit recently. I actually took them on a walk to Bells Rapids to show them some of the things I'd learnt."

Life in the Bush respectfully acknowledges Aboriginal Australians as the First Australians and Traditional Custodians of this great country. Life in the Bush is situated on Noongar Whadjuk Boodja, the country of the Noongar Whadjuk people, who have cared for this land for tens of thousands of years. With the utmost respect for Aboriginal culture and deepest admiration for their connection to this land, I express my gratitude to the Noongar Nation and all other Aboriginal groups across this land for their knowledge and practice of caring for country. I pay my respect to the elders, past, present and emerging and acknowledge their continuing culture and contributions made to lead the way in strengthening our communities and environment into the future.
